About Our Flag

Everyone else has a Flag - Why Not Straight Men?

We at The Gentlemen's Nitery have seen flags from various groups and pontificated on the idea of the flag. In warfare, flags were used as insignia of leadership, serving for the identification of friend or foe and as rallying points. Flags have been used for signaling, decoration, and display. To represent a country's historical past and national identity and also an expression of patriotism among citizens.

Many other groups use flags to represent their group and to identify that they stand with or support that group. It is not uncommon to see a "rainbow" flag flown outside the home or business to signify that they support the gay community. You can see Black Flags showing support for the BLM movement or even patriotic Americans displaying the Red, White & Blue flag our nation to signify that they are loyal Americans.

Straight Male

Although many believe "Straight Males" to be a "Toxic Element" in society, there are a large number of men who disagree and are proud to be a straight, masculine male. We do not have parades, nor do we (as a group) have public recognition. Therefore, we at the Gentlemen's Nitery have created a flag to signify our support for the Straight Masculine Male. We proudly display this flag to show that we stand with all Straight Males and we encourage others to show their support as well.

UNDERSTANDING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE COLORS

ORANGE

Orange is made of two primary colors: Red, which is often associated with Passion as well as Yellow, which is often associate with Joy. Straight men who are passionate about their masculinity is joyous.

PURPLE

Purple is associated with wisdom, creativity, royalty, power, peace, pride and independence. These qualities are very common in the masculine male; however, they are very subtle. We do not boast these qualities, which is why the purple stripe is subtlety situated with the black stripe.

BLACK

Black represents strength, power, authority and seriousness. This stands in the middle of the flag as the same way these qualities center the masculine male.

WHITE

White represents the purity and simplicity in our belief. It also stands for the good untainted by any other color. This too is subtle and situated close to the center of our core.
